Gerald Kuehl

Author and illustrator

Self-taught photographer and pencil artist Gerald Kuehl was born in Ontario and grew up in the community of Pinawa,northeast of Winnipeg. After studying at the University ofManitoba, he rediscovered his high school passion—drawing—and has since refined it into an astonishing craft. In 1997, afortuitous trip to the First Nations community of Manigotagan,Manitoba, set in motion a twenty-two-year project that took theartist to the remote corners of the province, and ultimately, deepinto the northernmost Canadian territory—Nunavut.

Kuehl’s works have been showcased across the country. He hastwo grown sons and lives in Winnipeg with his wife, Sara.
